TMF Celebrates Service and Character at 13th Annual "If Not Me, Then Who..." Gala
On Thursday, December 12, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) honored the military community, surviving families and engaged volunteers at its 13th Annual “If Not Me, Then Who…” Gala.
Master of Ceremonies Jenna Lee, Founder of SmartHER News, led over 400 supporters gathered at The Union League of Philadelphia through an inspiring program recognizing the Foundation’s most engaged volunteers and supporters.
2024 Leadership Award: LtCol Matt Howard, USMC (Ret.)
After retiring from an extraordinary Marine Corps career that included flying President George W. Bush to Ground Zero, Matt faced a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. TMF helped him rediscover his purpose, leading him to become a Veteran Mentor, share his inspiring journey, and instill character in future generations. With the unwavering support of his wife Darcy and TMF, Matt continues to inspire and persevere.
2024 Scott Belveal Memorial Scholarship Award: Jaiden Shampoe
Despite a challenging upbringing, Jaiden found healing through TMF events with his father, Tim, a TMF Veteran Mentor. Together, they created a TMF Chapter in White Salmon, WA, inspiring local youth. Jaiden’s dedication to giving back has been transformative, showing the power of resilience and community support.
2024 Military Advocate Award: Dave Portnoy
His first connection with TMF at the Army-Navy game in 2022 led to a relationship characterized by unwavering support. Through Barstool Sports, Dave has consistently advocated for veterans, military families, and law enforcement, making a lasting impact by raising more than $50 million for these communities.
2024 Community Leadership Award: Audacy
As a national TMF media partner, Audacy has generously supported TMF for more than 10 years with resources and connections that raise funds and awareness for the Foundation’s mission. TMF benefits from Audacy’s annual Talk Radio 1210 Radiothon and WIP Birds at the Bye events, and Audacy introduces TMF to countless listeners through its network of radio stations.
2024 Guest of Honor: SgtMaj Carlos Ruiz, USMC, Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps
As the top enlisted official of the Marine Corps, SgtMaj Ruiz has enhanced the combat readiness of the Marine Corps and advocated for Marines’ quality of life.
