Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) is expanding Character Does Matter powered by Under Armour to include visually-impaired Veteran Mentors and youth. In partnership with the Metrolina Association for the Blind, TMF has launched an 8-week character course for students in the Charlotte area, ensuring character and leadership development is accessible to all. With hands-on training and mentorship, veterans like Ben Lochary and Keith Robinson are inspiring the next generation, proving that leadership is about mindset, not physical ability.

Annual Manion WOD (Workout of the Day) Returns to Honor 18th Anniversary of Marine Fallen Hero 1stLt Travis Manion in April


The Manion WOD is more than a workout—it’s a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, who gave his life on April 29, 2007. Taking place April 26-28, 2025, this annual CrossFit Hero WOD unites veterans, families of fallen heroes, and supporters worldwide. Participants complete a 400-meter run and 29 back squats for 7 rounds to honor the legacy of 1stLt Travis Manion. Travis Manion Foundation and Audacy Philadelphia, collaborated on an Operation Legacy Service Project to show support for Gold Star Wife Jessica Byrd. Jessica’s husband, Marine Lance Corporal John T. Byrd, was killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq in 2004, while Jessica was pregnant with their son Elijah. Jessica has since turned this tragedy into a life of service, as her way to carry on the legacy of her late husband.
