NEWTOWN, PA – MEMORIAL DAY AVENUE OF FLAGS PLACEMENT

Join us in a meaningful tribute to honor our nation's heroes as we gather to raise approximately 150 U.S. flags at Washington Crossing National Cemetery for Memorial Day. Together, we will set up temporary flagpoles and display the "Avenue of Flags," a breathtaking sight that pays homage to those who have sacrificed for our nation.

The "Avenue of Flags" features approximately 150 U.S. flags, each measuring 4 ½ by 9 feet, flying atop 20-foot removable poles along the cemetery’s roads. Each flag has been generously donated by a family whose loved one is buried here, adding a deeply personal touch to this tribute. The flags, spaced 30 feet apart, create a solemn and dignified display.

This service project requires walking the length of the cemetery, and all ages are welcome to participate. Given the delicate nature of the cotton burial flags, they are only displayed a few times a year—usually for Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Join us in this important effort to honor our nation's heroes.

* It is important to register for this service project, as this is the only way we can keep you updated on any changes, especially if the weather dictates a reschedule.

This project will honor the life and legacy of 1LT Travis Manion, USMC.
