NEWTOWN, PA - AVENUE OF FLAGS: PLACEMENT DAY - WASHINGTON CROSSING NATIONAL CEMETERY

Join us in a meaningful tribute to honor our veterans as we gather to raise approximately 150 U.S. flags at Washington Crossing National Cemetery for Veterans Day.

Together, we will set up temporary flagpoles to display the "Avenue of Flags," a breathtaking tribute to those who have served.

The "Avenue of Flags" features 150 U.S. flags, each measuring 4 ½ by 9 feet, flying atop 20-foot removable poles along the cemetery’s roads. Each flag has been generously donated by a family whose loved one is buried here, adding a deeply personal touch to the tribute.

Spaced 30 feet apart, the flags create a solemn and dignified display. This service project involves walking the length of the cemetery, placing the poles into the ground, and properly attaching the donated flags to the pole clips. Detailed instructions will be provided, and volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate. Due to the delicate nature of the cotton burial flags, they are displayed only twice a year, for Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

Join us in this important effort to honor our nation's heroes!
