Race Details

    Packet Pick Up:
    Packet pick-up will be held on September 13th, 2024 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (the Friday prior to the race) at The Bexar County Military and Veterans Services Center located at 1422 E. Grayson, 4th Floor, San Antonio, TX 78208

    *Please note that dynamic bib assignment will be used during packet pick up.

    Race Day Schedule:
    • 6:00 AM - Registration and Packet Pickup
    • 6:35 AM - Opening Ceremony
    • 7:00 AM - 5K Run/Ruck Start
    • 7:10 AM - 1 Mile SSG Darren Patrick Hubbell Memorial Run/Walk Start
    • 8:30 AM - Closing Ceremony and Awards

    Parking:
    Participant parking is located on site at Mission County Park, 6030 Padre Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214

    Volunteer Information:
    Volunteer briefing starts at 5:45 AM on race day. Please report to the registration check in table where volunteer coordinators will organize groups, distribute volunteer shirts and provide assignments.

    GORUCK Division:
    The GORUCK division of the Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run requires participants to carry a weighted rucksack or other type weighted backpack. We welcome ruckers of all levels to join us and earn a patch, but to compete for a top finisher medal in the GORUCK division, your ruck must contain the prescribed additional weight based on body weight:
    • For participants weighing 149 lbs or less, a 10-pound weight is required to qualify for the competitive GORUCK division.
    • For those weighing 150 lbs or more, a 20-pound weight is required to qualify for the competitive GORUCK division.
    • Weighted vests and RPC's are now allowed and do qualify for the competitive GORUCK division.
    • First Responders in full turnout gear also qualify for the competitive GORUCK division.
    Rucks will be weighed at each event prior to the start. Rucks must be compliant with the prescribed weight for the duration of the event. Rucks will be weighed without water using the provided digital luggage scale.
    • Once a ruck has been weighed and the standard has been met, document the registration check in list (highlight/checkmark they have had their ruck weighed)

    Medals will be awarded to the top 3 overall male and the top 3 overall female GORUCK finishers who cross the finish line with rucks that meet the weight standard outlined above. There are no age brackets in the GORUCK division.

    Course Information:
    The 5K run/ruck route is along the Riverwalk adjacent to Mission County Park, along the San Antonio River.  This course is not entirely flat and has inclines and declines throughout the course. The turnaround is located at the ½ way point of the run.

    The 1 Mile SSG Darren Patrick Hubbell Memorial Run/Walk is along the Riverwalk adjacent to Mission County Park, along the San Antonio River.  This course is relatively flat with the turnaround at the ½ way point. 

    Health and Safety:
    The health, safety, and security of all participants and volunteers is of the utmost importance. We all play a role in ensuring a safe and successful race day. Water stations will be deployed along the 5K course. You should begin pre-hydrating about 48 hours prior to the race. Stay hydrated during the event and make sure your packing list includes water, electrolytes, and oral rehydration salts.

    Strollers and Dogs:
    Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome to join us at the San Antionio 9/11 Heroes Run. Please be courteous of runners and Ruckers by starting at the back of the start wave.

  • GORUCK RUCKING DIVISION

    Travis Manion Foundation is proud to partner with GORUCK again in 2024, bringing rucking divisions to every 9/11 Heroes Run. Rucking is a sport grounded in Special Forces Training in which participants carry weighted rucksacks. All participants registered for the GORUCK division will receive this year's exclusive TMF GORUCK patch. Please read the rules and requirements carefully as they have changed since last year.
